Many databases track cited references for articles.  Each database may give you different results depending on what journals are included in that particular database.

Two of the databases the Library recommends for cited reference searching are Web of Science and SCOPUS.  You can access these from our Databases webpage.  If you are connecting from home, you will need to log in remotely first using your MyID (Active Directory) username and password.  (If using Firefox, use this link instead.)

Google Scholar also allows you to search for an article, and will then give a "cited by" link with the number of times that article has been cited.  However, since not all journal content is freely available on the web, this list may not be complete.
