PRISMA stands for "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses."
It's designed to help you write your systematic review.

It has two parts:

  • an outline with 27 items you need to describe in your article
  • a flow diagram that shows how you selected your studies

It's a good idea to review these two documents before you start your review project so you understand all the information you'll need to create as you go through the systematic review process.

Many journals now require that authors use PRISMA.
