MD Anderson requires the use of an electronic lab notebook instead of hard-copy, paper notebooks.
The Principles for Scientific Research Policy (RES3535) states that institutionally approved platforms for research documentation include MD Anderson-provided electronic notebooks, such as IDBS E-WorkBook, or other MD Anderson supported electronic notebooks.
The policy notes that paper notebooks and OneNote are not approved for documenting and storing research records. Microsoft Office 365 applications (except OneNote) are recommended to be used within the IDBS E-WorkBook. Other specialized systems including Epic, OnCore, Foundry, eSirius, Jupyter, XNAT, GitHub and more, are included in the list of institutionally approved platforms.
