Q. I receive an error message about compatibility when trying to use EndNote's CWYW tool on a Mac.

If you receive the following error message, try modifying your Mac's Automation settings. If changing the Automation settings doesn't resolve the issue, contact 4-INFO.

Error Message

This version of the EndNote application is not compatible with Cite While You Write.

Troubleshoot Automation Settings

1. Go into the Apple menu
2. Click System Settings
3. Choose Privacy and Security from the left pane
4. Click the Automation option on the right side
5. Click on the > arrow next to EndNote and ensure the Microsoft Word option is toggled to the On position.
6. Similarly, click on the > arrow next to Microsoft Word and ensure the EndNote is toggled to the On position
